AS DAYS GOES BY

Days, month and years goes by as the clock ticks but there are some special people sent in your life who show much love, care and affection unconditionally and those people are the Angels in our life. Your smile is my priority on my scale of preference and I will make sure you smile till I see those white teeth of yours. Yes like that, there you go, my oh my, I wish you will see how elegant and lovely you look when you smile.

There are some regret I have made in life and that is not knowing you earlier and not being able to cross the ocean to make each and every day a heavenly one for you but all the same I smile when I think of you and that even brings showers of blessings in my life.

You are not only beautiful, elegant, breath taking and sweet as a candy but intelligent and one of a kind. If people look at you a lot and whisper to their selves, don’t think there are gossiping but they are just praying, thinking, discussing and wondering how they will look as sweet and special as you are. I respect you as a woman, a lady, a queen and a beautiful empress. I thank God I know you and have discovered you for great researchers couldn’t.

HER NAME IS GRACE

Wow! What a beautiful lass
Well valued more than gold, silver and brass
Immediately, I realize my feelings for her wasn’t lust
But to start a relationship with her which will last
Eventually, the rising sun has brought God’s grace
To my surprise, she said her name was Grace
Approaching boldly, she said she needed some days
So confused thinking is due to my race
Her beauty always called for my gaze
In my life, she only got my attention
With her, I truly understood the word addiction
Though my soul cries due to our separation
Her memories grants me perfect satisfaction
This is a blessed year
And with her I have no fear
Because her smiles always wipe my tear
Indeed this is God’s grace
And I have grown from grass to Grace.

DESIRE FOR GREATNESS

Born as an orphan but had faith in greatness
Though I had no one to lean on, my dreams and aspiration never lost my sight
I felt it, breathe it and thought about it always
Racism and discouragement was always my companion
Tears and sorrow escorted me wherever I went
The only time I recall laughing was my childhood
I never knew where to start and where to end
I thought it was a curse till I found God
Persisting doggedly with unflagging enthusiasm in hardworking
I now live in palace and sleep on golden bed
It takes great steps towards a great gate but only the wise finds it
Never think it takes years to be great for there is always a sign of greatness in every decision and step we take.

BACK TO OUR ROOT

From the slaughtered blood of our ancestors, we traced back our root as Africans.
From the shouting of innocent souls crying, we heard the melodious voice of Africans.
The quietude of the night gave us the opportunity to dream and hope.
The help of the starlit brought much presence of our great ancestors.
Sitting still, we bleed in agony with the company of the close fitting shackles.
In starvation, we prayed for hope but the only way to survive was to maintain the little saliva on our tongue.
To love was to hate and to be educated they thought us it was a crime.
In tears orphans implored for their parent.
In beating their chest men asked for their wives.
We cherished committing suicide rather than slavery for
We knew that was the only way to join our ancestors in Africa.
Welcome back to your root. Akwaaba.

UNITED WE STAND,DIVIDED WE FALL

In unity, we sang awaiting the rising Sun.
In unity, our voice was like a rolling sea.
In unity, we fought like wounded tigers.
In unity, we remembered we were linked by blood, history, culture and ancestral heritage.
In unity, we danced to the rhythm of African drums.
In unity, we brought back the smiling face of mother Africa.
In unity, we were proud to be called Africans, African-Americans and Africans in America.
In unity, we got the realization that we were named from the land of Africa.
In unity, we stand as one because divided we fall but we are better than all.
In unity, we know that, two blacks, too strong.
